You may be familiar with the name of the Quad Cities, but how much do you know about this iconic Midwestern region? Our real estate agents share some fascinating reasons why the Quad Cities are such a wonderful place to live.

  1. "Quad Cities" is actually a misnomer.
The area known as Quad Cities is comprised of Bettendorf, IA; Davenport, IA; Moline, IL; East Moline, IL; and Rock Island, IL. But once Bettendorf officially joined the party, "Quint Cities" just wasn't as lyrical.
  2. Your dollar goes further in the Quad Cities.
According to top city-ranking site BestPlaces, the cost of living in Davenport, largest of the Quad Cities, is a whopping 17.1 percent lower than the national average. This makes your perfect choice among Quad Cities homes for sale much more affordable.
  3. Lifestyles range across the spectrum.
Whether you prefer the finer things in life or you're a thrifty coupon-clipper, there's a place for you in the Quad Cities. Housing styles run the gamut from stately mansions along the Mississippi to beautiful contemporary houses to fixer-uppers for the DIY crowd.
  4. The Quad Cities embrace America's pastime.
Residents just love the Quad Cities' minor league baseball team, a high-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, which goes by the colorful nickname of River Bandits. Even if you're not a baseball fan, you must visit Modern Woodmen Park, near these Davenport homes for sale. It received the #1 ranking on USA Today's list of 10 best minor league ballparks. Features include a mini-amusement park with a giant Ferris wheel, a double-decker carousel, and a Cornfield Deck adjacent to an actual field of corn inside the stadium.
  5. The Quad Cities have transformed the farming industry.
Farmer or not, everyone recognizes John Deere as one of the largest global manufacturers of agricultural equipment. Their classic deer logo is accompanied by the company's memorable slogan, "Nothing runs like a Deere." While the company originated in Vermont more than two centuries ago, founder John Deere relocated to Moline, IL, in the mid-1800s. Near these Moline homes for sale, the company has an additional presence in the community as sponsor of the John Deere Classic, an annual event on the PGA Tour hosted by the namesake TPC Deere Run golf course.
  6. The Quad Cities are a hotbed of music.
Year-round, there are almost always concerts and music festivals happening around the Quad Cities. One of summer's top events is the Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Festival, honoring the legendary jazz musician born and raised in Davenport. Vibrant Arena hosts a lineup of nationally known music and comedy entertainers such as Nate Bargatze, Dierks Bentley, and Little Big Town, as well as shows like Cirque du Soleil. For more intimate shows featuring an assortment of local and national independent musicians, check out the historic Adler Theatre
  7. Yes, Quad Cities pizza is a thing.
Why drive to Chicago when the Quad Cities have restaurants like Harris Pizza, right down the street from Bettendorf homes for sale, that serve world-class pizza? As described by Food & Wine, Quad Cities pizza is characterized by a crust made with molasses and malt and a tomato sauce flavored with chili flakes and cayenne pepper for a kick of spice. Finally, the pizza is cut in strips instead of the traditional wedges.
  8. It's easy to eat healthy in the Quad Cities.
Thanks to the abundantly fertile farmlands surrounding the Quad Cities, there's no shortage of farmers markets and other sources of fresh fruits and vegetables. Many farmers markets are seasonal, but Davenport's Freight House Farmers Market operates year-round.
