Agents in our Cedar Rapids & NewBo offices were asked to share their favorite dining establishment with us, and they did not disappoint. We advise you to not read the following blog post on an empty stomach as the below-mentioned bakeries, restaurants, diners, and breweries are some of the best in the area.

Breakfast

Breakfast, the most important meal of the day! Try one of these local recommendations to start you day off right.

Rustic Hearth Bakery has been honored with the distinction of 'Iowa's Best Bread.' That alone makes Rustic Hearth Bakery worth a stop, but also delicious are their pastries, banquettes, and pecan rolls.

American Skillet is where you go for generous helpings of your comfort breakfast foods. Think large omelets, decadent french toast, and classic sandwiches.

Feedwell Kitchen & Bakery is run by Chef Mel and Chef Holly and their bakery is beautiful inside out, meaning the building and the food! From the moment you step foot into Feedwell you know you're about to devour a great meal, no matter what you order. Chef Mel has an extensive food and beverage background and together with Chef Holly, their menu is delectable!

Fine & Casual Dining

The fine and casual dining experience in Cedar Rapids is extensive, you have restaurants in NewBo, like Crosby's and ___, and others located downtown like The Map Room and many favorites also reside in Marion like the West End Diner.

When walking along the streets of NewBo, you can't miss Crosbys.  Its large windows and outdoor patio make it a beautiful spot to enjoy your meal. Listed as a New American eatery and cocktail bar you'll find your favorites, just elevated!

The Class Act Restaurant is located within the Hotel at Kirkwood Center and definitely the place you go when you want to pull all the stops. A perfect place to make a reservation for Valentine's Day, an anniversary or any other special occasion.

The West End Diner offers the dishes you've come to know and love at a diner but provides an atmosphere unmatched by other diners. Located in Marion, close to many new up-and-coming shops, this diner is the best spot to grab a bit to eat while out and about, especially if you love dining in historic buildings!

Crossroads Bistro really has something for everyone. This family-owned restaurant serves "Thai, Chinese, sushi, breakfast, burgers, and sandwiches." A great place to try when you want a little bit of everything.

Iowa Chophouse has everything and more that you need in a great social hot spot. Iowa Chophouse has a wide variety of food and drinks, we highly recommend visiting during happy hour!

Black Sheep Social Club offers food that you know and love, but with an international spin, or what Black Sheep refers to as "Iowa Comfort Food" that will push your taste buds.

Nestled in the middle of busy downtown Cedar Rapids, the adorable, stone front of The Map Room sticks out in the best way.  The clue to the way is served at The Map Room is in its name as this establishment serves burgers and friends inspired from places around the world.

Also looking to dine downtown, well technically, 'midtown' you must add Midtown Station to your list of places to try. A specialized menu with beautifully executed dishes is what they are known for!

LP Street Food 's name is "a play on "local poor" and a salute to the working class" and their food is heavily influenced by street foods known and loved but with a fresh twist!

Cedar Rapids spot for fresh seafood dishes, great drinks, friendly service, and an exceptional atmosphere is Boston's,

Italian/Pizzeria

Good news for Italian lovers, the recommendations for flavorful pastas, pizzas and wine will lead you to Bari Italian. And if pizzerias are more up your alley, try Need Pizza or Cappy's Pizzeria. Fresh dough made daily, is enough of a reason to check out Cappy's Pizzeria. The fact they have mouth-watering pizza combinations is also a pretty good reason. Order you crust thin or if really hungry, try a Chicago deep dish! Vino's Ristorante will thrill anyone who loves a traditional, authentic Italian meal, and their wine menu is robust. Enjoy eating at the restaurant or having a glass of wine at R.J Books Lounge.

Winery

A little ways out from Cedar Rapids, in Swisher you'll find Cedar Ridge Winery.  And this destination is worth the trip! Its expansive property includes a winery, a restaurant, and a place to shop. If wine isn't your jam, Cedar Ridge is also known for its award-winning Whiskey. Cheers!

Mexican Cuisine

La Cantina has two locations in Cedar Rapis & Marion and they serve up authentic Mexican food, with daily specials that keep patrons coming back, that and the happy hour margaritas!

Handcrafted eats is Caucho's right of passage. Caucho's is an urban Mexican spot that is dedicated to service quality, gourmet-style Mexican foods.
