When your town juts up to one of the most powerful rivers in the country, outdoor events and community gatherings are a must! Burlington and its surrounding communities do just that, each season you can find fun events to attend that highlight the rich history of the town along with its impressive outdoor location. Agents in our Burlington office shared the events they look forward to year after year. Here are a few of their favorites!

Markets

Consider your summer and fall Thursday nights booked because the Jefferson Street Farmers Market is in full swing from May to October in downtown Burlington. Support your local farmers and creative vendors and buy goods directly from your community!  The event is open every Thursday from 4:30 – 7 PM.

Music & Art

Art in the Park is an annual event that takes place in Fort Madison's historic Central Park. This free event is for anyone who enjoys music, art, and being outdoors. Support local artisans as they display their works in a beautiful setting. Sip delicious wine and shop at the unique boutiques of Fort Madison at the Partners Annual Wine Walk.  Held each year in the fall, the event highlights local and regional wine, beer, and distillery producers as well as local shops during its hours-long event. "Fun fun fun to do with a group of friends and/or family - you might even discover your new favorite brew!' Lee County Conservation hosts thoughtful events year-round in its beautiful local county/state parks. There are always events happening throughout the area, so matter your interest, you'll find a fun outing to attend. Bring your lawn chairs, family, and friends and settle in at Fort Madison's Old Settler's Park for Music in the Park. This event is picking back up to include acts each Sunday evening.

Festivals & Fairs

The Burlington Noon Lions Club host the annual Oktoberfest event that celebrates the town's German heritage. Held in early fall, this event is a toast to heritage but also to the end of summer. Come to participate in fun games and contests but also to enjoy the customary food and beverages of Germany. Riverfest, a music festival previously located in Fort Madison, this Hardrock festival has relocated to nearby Quincy, IL. If a fan of rock music, this event needs to be on your radar! Snake Alley Art Fair is a favorite among many in Burlington. What started out 50 some years ago as a small gathering of local artists looking to display their new creations has turned into a daylong event featuring more than 80 artists! The Snake Alley Art Fair (SAAF) offers those who attend the fair to meet the artists and see and buy original works of art. Sporting EventsSince 1948, The Tri-State Rodeo has been known as "Fort Madison's pride and joy!" The rodeo is a week chock full of your favorite rodeo events. They've got horses, bulls, mutton-bustin' cowboy hats, and buckles! And legendary musical acts performing each night and a parade to conclude the event on Saturday.  Activities for people of all ages! Nothing beats a summer night under the bright lights! Of course, we are referring to watching a Burlington Bees game at Community Field!  If you agree, you'll want to attend a Burlington Bees game. Many nights incorporate a theme that ends in fireworks, throwback music, and community tributes. Buy tickets here! Students and faculty at the Burlington Community School District work hard to compete and participate in sporting events throughout the year and many talented students have emerged and created a large fan following. Go Grayhounds!
