A local development project is not all business for a team working to change the South of Six area in Iowa City.  As a young boy, Brad Houser remembers growing up in the South District.  He fished in the ponds, went swimming and rode bikes with his neighborhood friends. Brad, in partnership with Steve Gordon and other builders and real estate professionals, is turning his childhood memories into an inspiration for a new development, Sycamore Developments.  Sycamore's goal is to bring amazing memories to families in Iowa City – and to bring back a neighborhood that is both affordable and allows you to enjoy hiking, fishing, golfing and even scuba diving while being only minutes from the city. A driving force of this project is to improve the Iowa City area.  For many years, people had an unfavorable view of the South District.  But all of this is changing.  There have been over 800 new housing units in the South District in the last 20 years.  In the next ten years; there are plans for over 1,000 additional units. Right now, there are three phases of development planned – Sycamore Trails, Sycamore Meadows and Sycamore Woods.  The group, which also includes Realtors from Skogman and Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors, is currently looking for builders who are interested in partnering on this project.  Learn more, and see an interactive map, at sycamorelifestyle.com. "As a child growing up here – learning how to ride a bike, fishing in the ponds, and swimming and playing outside with neighborhood friends – I had a great start in life. I believe the South District is a great, affordable location where you have access to so many amenities in the area," says developer Brad Houser, "I look forward to making this area a fantastic place for families to create their own amazing memories." About Sycamore Development The neighborhoods of Sycamore Developments are nestled in the heart of Iowa City's South District, just a few minutes from about anywhere you want to be in Iowa City. Thoughtful urban planning promotes patterns of land use, urban design, infrastructure and services that contribute to livability and sustainability in the area.  We've built our neighborhoods to integrate into every area of your life, with easy access to great schools, parks, recreation areas, churches, health care, shopping, entertainment and dining option abound.
