When asked to sit down to talk about working with family at Ruhl&Ruhl the last thing Kate Franzen would imagine was her mom tearing up with pride as she talked about working with her daughter. But, as Gina Rowland opened up and talked about her "leap of faith" in trusting her daughter to treat her clients the way she would, that is exactly what happened.

"The first time I watched Kate do a buyer consultation all on her own, I saw how good she is. She is really, really good," said Rowland, when asked about her favorite memory at Ruhl&Ruhl.

"It's because you're bias," Franzen chimed in.

"I'm not! I'm saying this because I was actually surprised […] I've mentored other agents, but in [my daughter] Kate there is a difference.

Rowland and Franzen are both sales associates in the Ruhl&Ruhl Bettendorf Office and have excelled in their business. Rowland has been in the business for 14 years, with six of those years at Ruhl&Ruhl, and was joined by her daughter in 2010

"You feel good telling people you work at Ruhl&Ruhl," said Rowland. "Coming from another broker, I know the difference. It's the people, the technology, the support staff - it really makes our job easier. Ruhl&Ruhl is the whole package."

For this mother - daughter team togetherness is the key to success.

"We spend so much time together you would think that we would get sick of each other," laughs Franzen.

Changing careers was a difficult decision for Franzen. After having her first child, she wanted to spend more time at home and decided to leave her job as a teacher.

"By my second child I was ready to get back to work and by working [at Ruhl&Ruhl] I have that balance between work and home," said Franzen "Working together has been more rewarding than either of us could have imagined. If my kids are sick, [my mom] doesn't give me a hard time about it and I know that I can be home with them."

Gina says that having Kate join her was heaven. "It works because we are each good at different things."
