Race for A Life
About one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Darcy Holle, the Director of Career Development for Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors was the 'one'. "I remember participating in the first ever QC Race for the Cure with my daughter and mom back in 1990 at Bettendorf High School." said Holle. "Little did I know, years later I'd be diagnosed with breast cancer." The 25th Annual Susan B. Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure is this Saturday, June 14th at the iWireless Center in Moline and Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors is excited to be supporting this year through sponsorship. Holle was diagnosed in 2007 and was very fortunate. After
undergoing a lumpectomy and radiation, she was cancer free by 2012. "Since my diagnosis, I've known family members, friends and fellow co-workers go through this ordeal," Holle said "I was fortunate, very fortunate to have what I call 'baby cancer'. I say to each and every one of you out there having gone through, or going through this now, you amaze me-your strength and courage is like no other! And it's for all of you. I'll be there on June 14 th running for the cause." The Komen Quad Cities Race has become the affiliate's largest fundraiser. The race is the local source for funding breast health services, breast cancer education and outreach. They support over 500,000 families in the bi-state area, and give our community information about the importance of early detection and being active in their breast health. "We are proud to support this race on behalf of our many Realtors and their families who have been impacted by breast cancer," said Caroline Ruhl. "We appreciate what Komen does in the Quad Cities for support, education and outreach." Komen Quad Cities is hoping for 10,000 participants this year to raise $25,000 for education, screening and local treatment programs.
