Loan Officer Receives Community Grant

Melanie Hinman, Loan Officer for 1862 Mortgage, has received a $2,500 Community Betterment Grant for her participation in a statewide contest. The Meaning of Homeownership Contest was a partnership between the Iowa Finance Authority and the Iowa Association of Realtors to energize Iowans about homeownership this summer. Iowa Realtors and lenders asked their clients what homeownership means to them. Answers were written on memo boards and captured by photographs (Responses can be seen online at: www.IowaFinanceAuthority.gov/Contest). Voting took place on Facebook (www.Facebook.com/IowaFinance) and clients who received the most online votes received a $1,500 Menards gift card, while Realtors and lenders receiving the most votes were given the community grant. There were 122 entries submitted and more than 13,000 votes cast. "I am thrilled to receive the Community Betterment grant for our area," said Melanie Hinman, Loan Officer for 1862 Mortgage, who is still determining what organization will receive the money. "I appreciate all the votes and all the opportunities that the Iowa Finance Authority brings through their First Home Plus Grant. We've had many first-time homebuyers take advantage of the grant tobe able to achieve their dream of homeownership!" The grant will be awarded to Hinman on Friday, July 27^th at 1pm at the 1862 Mortgage and Ruhl&Ruhl REALTORS office at 226 E. 2^nd Street in Muscatine. Other winners were Jennifer Barnett of Cedar Rapids and Debra Callahan of Skogman Realty in Cedar Rapids.
