Realtor.com recently identified the neighborhood features near a home that could have the biggest impact on a home's price. To calculate, realtor.com analyzed home prices and appreciation rates in zip codes of the 100 largest metro areas across the country where a "drag-me-down" facility, such as cemeteries and power plants, was present. The research team then calculated the potential impact on a home's price by comparing the median home price of the zip codes with that facility with the median price for all homes in the same country. The following neighborhood features impact home values by the greatest amounts:
Bad school -22.2%
Strip club -14.7%
High renter concentration -13.8%

According to a recent article from RIS Media, first-time buyers are struggling with limited inventory and high prices. With 10 percent fewer entry-level homes on the market this year compared to last, values in this segment are rising faster than half of the largest U.S. housing markets.  As we enter the "home-shopping season," or summer as it's known to everyone else, we will notice less homes available in the bottom and middle of the market. These are the homes that are most affordable for first-time buyers. These buyers will also find stiff competition, bidding wars, and again, very few homes to choose from. In all of the largest U.S. housing markets, more than a third of the homes available for sale are in the most expensive segment. In nine markets, top-tier homes make up more than half of the inventory. A Ruhl&Ruhl Realtor can help make the home buying process simple, even if it doesn't seem...

"Choose your upgrades partly on need, of course, but how long you intend to stay in your home should also guide both the projects you select and the amount you spend."

You'll also want to choose your improvements based on your neighborhood, as you don't want your house to be the only mansion on the block. Other rec...

Home repairs can be costly, but they can also provide plenty of benefits for you and your family. A simple siding replacement of $14,000 can add $8,600 to your resale value. However, we have all heard about the great benefits of resale value when upgrading. Now, according to surveys released by the National Association of Realtors, we have learned that certain projects can also provide the homeowner with internal benefits as well. Because not everything is about the resale value.  For example, a roofing replacement may only recoup you with 50% of your cost, but it is one of the top projects with the highest satisfaction.  Adding a new bathroom, complete kitchen renovation, and a new front door are also projects that can also come with happiness to the owner. Who knows? Maybe you'll end up loving your new and improved home so much, you won't want to move! Visit our website at
